This Pisces New Moon is the last New Moon of the Year. March 20th begins the new year and we’ll have our next New Moon after that date.

This Snow Moon or Hunger Moon causes you to reflect on the harsh weather conditions of winter. Whether you live in a house, an apartment or trailer, the desire is the same. With or without a fireplace, you crave warmth, companionship and family. This is a good time to focus the magic of your love on those who are nearest and dearest to you.
Despite the wonderfully warm weather experienced in so much of the US this year, your inner clock still resonants with the normal cycle of cold and snow. So, you’ll have a natural desire to nest. Yield to this cycle. Join up with friends and family. Enjoy the feeling. When you’re in tune with nature’s cycle, your life is on key.

The New Moon is a time of new beginnings. And, this month’s New Moon is especially emphatic because it combines two special ‘anti-forces’.
First, there is the usual halt in activity associate with New Beginnings. You stop, think and plan for the cycle. I call this your New Moon Wishes. What do you want to accomplish this moon cycle? Take your time to think it over. The natural New Moon rhythm is one of hesitation. Remember the earth is dark. The Moon isn’t reflecting the Sun’s light. Stop and take stock.
Second, Mars, the action planet, is stationary in preparation for the long Mars retrograde. This stationary period makes you feel a little stagnant…unable to move forward as you’d like to do. Your energy is thick and coagulated like refrigerated maple syrup. Even when the Moon re-energizes during this cycle, the retrograde Mars holds back your progress. You’ll be forced to re-evaluate your past actions. Not everything will be subject to a ‘re-do’ but you’ll find old projects re-appearing for re-crafting over the next few months.

Virgos born between August 27th to September 17th may find this Mars especially bothersome. Don’t let the glitches in life cause you to get mired in things you have to redo. Consider this re-do as finishing touches…your time to shine.

Professions especially affected by the Mars retrograde are:

Salesperson, professional bus, limo and taxi drivers, butchers, executives, butchers, barbers, fire fighters, athletes and military persons in war zones.

      What do you hunger for? That is, what are your real goals? This is the time to think, plan and begin to shape your future. In the colder regions it’s difficult to get started. The weather makes us hesitate to take the initiative. Don’t back away from this natural instinct. When the temperatures cool, it’s nature’s way of telling us to hibernate. It doesn’t mean we’re lethargic. It means we back off a little and take stock of our lives.
The Winter solstice was the beginning of a period of withdrawal. Now the first full Moon of the solstice reminds us to clear away the cobwebs and begin planning our next steps forward. As spring approaches we need to be ready to seize the opportunities to come.

We begin the season of winter, a time to wind down, finish what you’ve started; rest and rejuvenate. So many begin to think of New Year’s resolutions but this isn’t the time to begin anew. It’s the time to cull out the old and finish projects in progress.
The Sun, whose light has been slowly dying since June 22, will begin to grow and revitalize. This first night of winter marks the longest night and shortest day of the year. Hereafter, the days grow longer and the nights shorten. However, this is a process. It takes time and, if you are to exist within a natural life cycle, you must respect the time it takes for the days to grow longer. Allow yourself more time to sleep. Don’t fight the natural order of things.
On the astrological front this solstice marks a day when the Sun, Jupiter and Uranus are all at 0°. Jupiter is in a playful and expansive relationship with the Sun, reminding it and you that there is “more” life available. The feeling is buoyant and optimistic in general. This helps you take stock of your assets and liabilities with clarity. Remember, this is the time to divest of what isn’t working for you. And, in the midst of this Uranus is pushing in the same direction. It also wants you to get rid of what is not working for you. So, the theme of this year’s winter solstice is:

Take charge of your life.
Remove what isn’t working for you.
Intentionally make the necessary changes.

If you want to be ready for spring (new beginnings), you have to use this last quarter of the astrological year (Dec-Mar) to clear the air, to be sure of your dreams hopes and wishes. Whatever you want will be yours if you have the presence of mind and clarity of thought to imagine what your want. And how do you imagine it? Just think of how you want to feel and the right picture will reveal itself to you.

Whatever you want is only a visualization away.

Whether your experience these last few weeks was fraught with big or little frustration, it’s coming to a close. Actually, however, if you really look at your life as a whole, you’ll notice that the frustrations happen all the time. You just feel more aware of the glitches…your senses are attuned to it while Mercury is retrograde.

You can solve so many of the problems now because your attitude is that “it’s over.” Mercury retrogrades about 3 times a year. Once you learn how to roll with it…how to double check your actions and reactions…you’ll begin to tame this astro-monster with skill and patience.

Think about what was problematic over the last three weeks. Then, analyze whether or not you were able to handle things well and what you need to do now to tie up the loose ends.

By the way, if you put off those electronic purchases, the door is not open. Just remember to comparison shop for price, return policy and for stores that have adequate staffing. If there’s no one to help you choose your purchase, there won’t be anyone around if you have to make a return.

Both the Full Moon and the Lunar Eclipse are here to light the way if you just keep life’s ups and downs in perspective. This is one of the most difficult of Full Moons for you must believe and trust in nature and the cycle of living.

This is the last Full Moon before the Winter Solstice. The Moon shines brightly as it reflects the last gasps of the “dying Sun.” After the Winter Solstice the Sun will begin to strengthen but for now the Sun is weak. We experience it’s light for shorter and shorter periods each day.

The red and green colors of the season represent the fire and fertility that seems lacking in nature, however, we know that warmth and abundance will return. We often don cheerful garb and engage in outrageous celebrations (and spending) to ward off the doldrums. Thus, we honor this bleak season with too much vigor.  Behind this Sagittarius freedom comes the reckoning of Capricorn. Allow the joy and freedom but use your common sense to keep balance and harmony in your life.

Mercury Retrograde Begins

Retrogrades are a time for “re-doing” and when it’s Mercury, we tend to re-do paperwork, phone calls, short trips, etc. For each person the intensity is different. Some will notice small, but simple glitches. Others will find the problems overwhelming. But, nothing that happens should be a surprise. Think about the past week or so. Has a small, but meaningful letter arrived? I’ll bet there was a hint of trouble that you ignored. No matter how stressful the situation, it’ll resolve at the end of the retrograde period, December 13th.

This double Moon energy is all about confusion, delusion and financial & physical stress. In fact, you can probably pair your Mercury retrograde issues with the eclipse issues. This eclipse tears down situations in your life. It’s purpose is to clear away the garbage and provide fertile ground on which to grow. Your biggest concern is clarity. Things are not as they seem to be. You may think you understand, but you’re seeing life through foggy lenses. Avoid making important decisions until you’ve had time to weigh them AND RE-WEIGH them. Remember this eclipse is occurring within 24 hours of a Mercury retrograde. Be deliberate. Get advice. Then sleep on decisions before you commit.
